Adapter "Imeco TB1"
Hardware
■ a minimalist concept of connecting one
inductance probe to a PC, tablet or mobile phone
■ the hardware is an adapter in the form of
a short USB cable, without an additional component
■ the USB-C connector is intended for direct connection to a phone or tablet or with the use of a
USB-C/USB-A dongle the adapter TB1 connects to the USB input of the PC
■ 'half-bridge' and 'LVDT' probes of various designs and manufacturers are digitally
calibrated and equipped with a connector D-SUB DB-9
■ the connector contains measuring electronics and permanent memory with coefficients
of polynomial correction of linearity errors, the probe works in 'digital probe' mode
■ working range of sensors to ±5mm
Software
■ for mobile phones and tablets with the system ANDROID the applications
"quick SUBMICRONS" (Android-8 and higher) and "LENGTH METER Classic" (Android-13 and higher) are available in the GOOGLE PLAY store, it is freeware for free download
■ "quick SUBMICRONS" is a simple meter with a digital display, with the possibility of setting zero, selecting resolution (1µm / 0.1µm / 0.01µm)
and capturing extremes of dynamic waveforms
■ "LENGTH METER Classic" refers to classic instruments with its functions and appearance: digital display and
'analog' indicator, evaluation relative to the master piece, maximum and minimum registers with difference and mean values,
resolution options (1µm / 0.1µm / 0.01µm)
■ for PC with system WINDOWS (Win10/11) a programme aid is available "Tiny Gauge", which provides
the basic functions of a digital length gauge; the aid can be operated as a single channel or with adapters in two
USB inputs as a cooperating double-channel or as two separate independent channels;
if a USB HUB is used, it is possible to run two channels on one USB input of the PC
■ "Tiny Gauge" has built-in direct data transport to the spreadsheet "LibreOffice Calc", either
the current display data is overwritten in the selected cell or in a column from the selected cell
as a time series about the specified number of examples
■ the program tool is freeware, the self-extracting installation can be freely downloaded here on the page and
you can also freely download the 'LibreOffice Calc' spreadsheet, ready to import sensor data, as a basis for a possible
user application
Use
■ concept focused on economy - minimalist hardware and free software
■ easy portability (mobile phone, tablet, laptop) allows you to have a high-quality measuring
device even in improvised conditions in cooperation with universal stands
■ static measurements are assumed, at most weakly dynamic, for example runout when hands are turned
■ the energy consumption of the measuring channel has been minimized, yet only a time-limited action
is assumed when using a mobile phone/tablet - the measurement is powered by the device's battery
Some features
● resolution: single range, without switching valid for the entire working range of the probe,
optional in values of 1µm/0.1µm/0.01µm
● classic range selection is only used to display a pseudo-analog pointer in Android SW for mobile phone or tablet
● natural linearity error ('S' curve) is minimized by calibration - polynomial fit, coefficients are stored
in the permanent memory in the probe connector, probes are interchangeable without restrictions
● Windows virtual meter 'Tiny Gauge' has the ability to connect to the 'LibreOffice Calc' spreadsheet,
write the current meter display data to the selected cell, or write a sequence of up to 1000 values in the column
● response time: 100ms, error at 22°±1: 0.05% FS, temperature range: 5-45 °C
