Minimalistic USB single channel

Adapter "Imeco TB1"

Hardware

■ a minimalist concept of connecting one inductance probe to a PC, tablet or mobile phone

■ the hardware is an adapter in the form of a short USB cable, without an additional component

■ the USB-C connector is intended for direct connection to a phone or tablet or with the use of a USB-C/USB-A dongle the adapter TB1 connects to the USB input of the PC

■ 'half-bridge' and 'LVDT' probes of various designs and manufacturers are digitally calibrated and equipped with a connector D-SUB DB-9

■ the connector contains measuring electronics and permanent memory with coefficients of polynomial correction of linearity errors, the probe works in 'digital probe' mode

■ working range of sensors to ±5mm

Software

■ for mobile phones and tablets with the system ANDROID the applications "quick SUBMICRONS" (Android-8 and higher) and "LENGTH METER Classic" (Android-13 and higher) are available in the GOOGLE PLAY store, it is freeware for free download

■ "quick SUBMICRONS" is a simple meter with a digital display, with the possibility of setting zero, selecting resolution (1µm / 0.1µm / 0.01µm) and capturing extremes of dynamic waveforms

■ "LENGTH METER Classic" refers to classic instruments with its functions and appearance: digital display and 'analog' indicator, evaluation relative to the master piece, maximum and minimum registers with difference and mean values, resolution options (1µm / 0.1µm / 0.01µm)

■ for PC with system WINDOWS (Win10/11) a programme aid is available "Tiny Gauge", which provides the basic functions of a digital length gauge; the aid can be operated as a single channel or with adapters in two USB inputs as a cooperating double-channel or as two separate independent channels; if a USB HUB is used, it is possible to run two channels on one USB input of the PC

■ "Tiny Gauge" has built-in direct data transport to the spreadsheet "LibreOffice Calc", either the current display data is overwritten in the selected cell or in a column from the selected cell as a time series about the specified number of examples

■ the program tool is freeware, the self-extracting installation can be freely downloaded here on the page and you can also freely download the 'LibreOffice Calc' spreadsheet, ready to import sensor data, as a basis for a possible user application

Use

■ concept focused on economy - minimalist hardware and free software

■ easy portability (mobile phone, tablet, laptop) allows you to have a high-quality measuring device even in improvised conditions in cooperation with universal stands

■ static measurements are assumed, at most weakly dynamic, for example runout when hands are turned

■ the energy consumption of the measuring channel has been minimized, yet only a time-limited action is assumed when using a mobile phone/tablet - the measurement is powered by the device's battery

Some features

● resolution: single range, without switching valid for the entire working range of the probe, optional in values of 1µm/0.1µm/0.01µm
● classic range selection is only used to display a pseudo-analog pointer in Android SW for mobile phone or tablet
● natural linearity error ('S' curve) is minimized by calibration - polynomial fit, coefficients are stored in the permanent memory in the probe connector, probes are interchangeable without restrictions
● Windows virtual meter 'Tiny Gauge' has the ability to connect to the 'LibreOffice Calc' spreadsheet, write the current meter display data to the selected cell, or write a sequence of up to 1000 values in the column
● response time: 100ms, error at 22°±1: 0.05% FS, temperature range: 5-45 °C

For Android devices from the 'Google Play - Tools section' store download and install the 'quick SUBMICRONS' or 'LENGTH METER Classic' application, or both. The application can be opened even without a sensor connected, the layout will be displayed and the '?' icon can be used to open a PDF document with more information.

Jednotka TB2 USB 2-kanál

Unit "Imeco TB2.310 USB 2.0 ASCII"

■ the unit is intended for measuring devices with two inductance probes, high resolution (up to 0.01µm) is available and a sufficient range of optional sampling frequencies (up to 800Hz) is available for dynamic measuring tasks

■ to support additional mechanisms and probes, the unit is equipped with several binary inputs/outputs (24 V) as well as A/D and D/A converters, additional mechanisms can thus be operated (PC/PLC) with measuring probes by one common USB communication channel

■ sensors can be of type 'LVDT' or 'half-bridge' of various manufacturers and various designs (with linear guide, planchet, lever) with a working range of up to ±5 mm, linearization calibration of IMECO is required

■ the signal of the sensors is processed in a 'digital probe' manner; the supporting electronics are located in the sensor connector, including calibration constants refining numerical linearization; the connector is not round (DIN 453220), but D-SubDB-9(m); when measuring, there is no need to select/switch ranges, there is only one - the entire working range of the sensor, in which the highest resolution of 0.01µm is available

■ serial communication USB ASCII is of the type 'Master (PC/PLC)-Slave (TB2)', the Master has a set of commands to configure TB2, read sensor values in several modes, manipulate binary I/O lines and A/D D/A converters; the reading of sensor data takes place via the 'buffer', into which the data is written in a step given by the sampling frequency and at the same time in a clock according to the capabilities of the PC/PLC removed - this asynchronous mode reduces the demand for transmission throughput; the communication channel is duplex, which, for example, will allow binary outputs to be set immediately even during the reading of the data packet

■ synchronous sampling of both channels, sampling rate 10-800Hz adjustable in 12 levels; resolution in the sampling rate field: 10-100Hz..0.01µm, 150-400Hz..0.1µm, 500-800Hz..0.5µm; error at 22°±1: 0.3% FS; 5 binary inputs, 3 outputs; A/D converter 12 bit, D/A converter 10 bit; temperature range of function: 5-45°C, power supply: USB bus...250mA, I/O and D/A...12-30Vss; protection: IP40; dimensions: 105x106x44mm

Jednotka TB801 Ethernet Ascii

Unit "Imeco TB801 ETHERNET ASCII"

■ The TB801 is a networkable measuring module with 8 channels for both 'half-bridge' and 'LVDT' inductance length probes, which is designed for measuring devices and large-scale multi-point measurement systems

■ it passes the values of the sensors as an Ethernet network server to a superior unit, typically a PC/PLC, which acts as a client; one superior unit can cooperate with a maximum of 11 TB801 modules, i.e. up to 88 sensors

■ support for dynamic measurement tasks in systems with many sensors: synchronization of sampling, reduction of data transmission requirements by asynchronous communication using a cache, the superior unit communicates with only one IP address, which compiles data packets for the entire assembly of TB801 modules

■ inductance probes of the 'LVDT' or 'half-bridge' type of various manufacturers and various designs (with linear rolling guide, planchet, lever) with a working range of up to ±5 mm can be used as sensors, linearization calibration of IMECO is required

■ the signal of the sensors is processed in a 'digital probe' manner; the supporting electronics are located in the sensor connector, including calibration constants refining numerical linearization; the connector is not round (DIN 453220), but D-SubDB-9 (m); a useful feature is only one measuring range - the entire working range of the sensor

■ the PC/PLC parent unit must have the 'TCP client' functionality available; communication is of the 'master-slave' type, where the commands are short ASCII strings to which the TB801 returns ASCII responses; the data request command can supply an array of up to 65535 samples of all sensors of the assembly, the values of the sensors in one sample are time-synchronous; sampling stores the values in the TB801 cache, from where they are sent sequentially according to the capacity of the transport packets; the packet format is an ASCII text file of type 'CSV' with the ';' separator

■ sampling rate: 10-200Hz, adjustable in steps of 10Hz; single range only, equal to the entire working range of the sensor; resolution: 0.01µm when sampling 10Hz, 0.1µm at 200Hz; error at 22°±1: 0.3% FS; sensor reading is the mean value per sampling period; 6 binary inputs, 4 outputs; temperature range of function: 5-45°C; power supply: 10-30V; protection: IP40; dimensions: 150x150x33mm
